Jeffrey Lynn Turpin, 58, gained his wings on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 9:32 p.m. at home with family present. Jeffrey was born February 13, 1963 to Judith (Matthews) Woodard and Charles Turpin in Evansville, IN.
Jeffrey attended St. John’s Methodist Church as a child and would attend Memorial Baptist Church with his mother, Judy and his companion, Malisha Black. He attended Oak Hill Elementary School and Harrison High School Class of ’81.
Jeffrey loved watching wrestling and going to live events at the Evansville Coliseum and The Ford Center. He found great joy in taking his nephew, Jay to wrestling also.
Jeff was a very loving, funny, hard-working man. He was known throughout the Evansville Community. He enjoyed helping friends and family with jobs around the house.
He worked at the University of Evansville for 5 years in the Dietary Dept. He was part time janitor at Otis Stone Post 354 cleaning up on weekends. Jeff loved helping his mom with cleaning and household chores.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his grandparents: Vitula and Sam Mallory, Gwendolyn Garth; a special aunt: Vivian “Aunt Bee” Keel; and his pops: Kenneth Woodard.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother: Judith (Matthews) Woodard; father: Charles Turpin; brothers: Bryan Matthews, Andon (Taylor) Moore, Kevin & Keith Woodard, and Charles Turpin; sisters: Katherine Woodard, Autumn Pauley, and Mary and Jackie Turpin; aunts: Debra Chipps, Lucille Stewart, Sheila Brimm, and Bertha Jeffries Weekley; uncles: Cornelius Matthews, Kerry (Laurie) Mallory; Leroy (Sheila) Brimm, and Frankie Lanier, and Michael Woodard; grandmother: Mary Etta Taylor; special niece: Ariana Moore (who loved her uncle “Jethro Bodine”); companion: Malisha Black; and host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Service will be on Friday, 12/3 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, Evansville, IN. Visitation will be at 9:00 until service time. R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
