Jeffrey De’Vaughn McKinnon, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, left his earthly home to reside in his eternal heavenly home on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Jeffrey was born in Lumberton, NC on November 19, 1963 to the late Ruby and Victor McKinnon, Sr.
As a child, the family called Jeffrey “Boudin.” They recalled that he loved the “Burger Chef & Jeff Restaurant” for their burgers and fries.
Jeffrey attended Hopkinsville High School. After high school, Jeffrey joined the army in 1981 and served two years.
Jeffrey returned home to take care of his family and further his education at Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville IN. While attending Ivy Tech, he was on the Board of Directors with Aurora, Inc. He also worked as an intern at the Evansville Rescue Mission and United Caring Shelter. In December 2015, he received his Associates of Science degree in Human Services from Ivy Tech Community College. Jeffrey was also a part of the Kiwanis Club where he served as president. He was a member of the American Legion Otis Stone Post 354 and was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Evansville, IN.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Blaine McKinnon and Victor McKinnon, Sr.; his sister, Barbara McKinnon; and his nephew, Travis McKinnon.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Jeannetta McKinnon of Evansville, IN; three children: Carmaca Jackson of Hopkinsville KY, Selwyn Jackson of Hopkinsville KY, and Carmella McKinnon of Evansville IN; three sisters: Janice (Greg) Jackson of Colonial Heights VA, Toni McKinnon of Columbia SC, Wanancii Li of New York NY; three brothers: Victor McKinnon , Jr. of Hopkinsville KY; Theone McKinnon of Charlotte NC, Christopher McKinnon of Evansville IN; five grandchildren: Ti’Tiona Jackson, Ti’Juan Jackson, Alaysha Jackson, Ti’Prriea Jackson, and Daviana Starks. In addition, Jeffrey leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his memories.
Services are Sat., April 2, 2016 at 1:00pm at Adams & Sons Mortuary, 306 Mechanic Street, Hopkinsville KY with Rev. Connie Baltzell officiating. Visitation Fri from 6-8pm at Mason Brothers in Evansville IN and Sat from 12:00noon until service time at Adams & Sons. Burial in Cave Springs Cemetery in Hopkinsville KY. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel in charge.
