James Michael Tomlinson, affectionately known as Michael and JT, was born on August 26, 1968, in Evansville, Indiana, to James W. and Linda Tomlinson. He departed this life on September 9, 2024.
Michael graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School, where he was a standout basketball player. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved most sports, particularly watching his grandson play at his alma mater. He never met a stranger, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and could usually be found watching a game, listening to music, or behind a grill.
Michael was the proud father of 3 beautiful daughters from his union with Marchetta Anderson.
He met the love of his life, Lisa Phipps Fox, who was his life partner of 34 years.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Linda, whom he lovingly called “L. Lou,” his maternal grandfather Marrion Wilson, his paternal grandparents Ginnie Tomlinson and Mattie Cathey Hamlett, his uncle’s William “Mickey,” Kenneth and Larry Tomlinson, William “Bud” Neal, and Aunt Nettie Florence Boone.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, James W. of Evansville. Three daughters: Mychael and Montreal “Monnie” Tomlinson, both of Nashville, TN, and Jasmine “Peaches” Tomlinson of Evansville, IN. Life partner Lisa Phipps Fox of Evansville, IN. Six grandchildren: Tizhaun Tomlinson, Xavier Pullom, Oczaveon Williams, Devynn and DJ Croom, and Darian Brown. Grandmother Mary Frances Robinson of Jackson, TN. Two sisters: Cynthia Steed of Jackson, TN, and Betty (Tony) Osborne of Evansville, IN. Three brothers: Ulyesses “Carnell” Tomlinson, Maurice Tomlinson and Taurus Tomlinson all of Evansville, IN. Two bonus children: LaShawn Fox Miller of Raleigh, NC, and Bobby Fox Jr. of Cincinnati, OH. (6) bonus grandchildren and (1) bonus great-grandchild; special life-long friends Randy Fentress, Paul Ellsworth, Henry Lamont Jones, Jerry, and Jason Martin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
