James Douglas Tandy, affectionately known as Winchie, was born on November 7, 1926 and passed away peacefully on August 16, 2015. He professed his faith at an early age and was a member of the Mt Zion Missonary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Almeter Tandy; father: John Tandy; sister: Merean; brothers John Tandy Jr and Thomas Gant; and son: Larry Tandy.
He is survived by his sister: Esterlean Chastine; three daughters: Shirley Tandy, Bowling Green KY, Patricia Tandy and Selena Tandy, Peoria IL; 12 grandchildren: Sabrina Mason, Bowie MD, Erik Tandy, Tampa FL, Laurie Tandy, Ocala FL, Tressalyn Shepherd, Madisonville KY, Amberleigh Tandy, Louisville KY, Larry Tandy, Jr, Louisville KY, Shanica Tandy, Louisville KY, LaGina Wilson, Hopkinsville KY, Shawnae Shackleford (Shirley) Bowling Green KY, John Dillon (Patricia) Peoria, IL, Justin Tandy and Ronald Powell (Selena) Peoria IL.; 16 great grandchildren: Anthony Mason, Jr (Sabrina), Erika, Javin and Kylah Tandy (Erik), Braylan Tandy (Laurie), A’monnye Cornelius and J’Ontae Smith (Tressalyn), Collin Williams, Michael Williams and Ambreigh Crook (Amberleigh), Jaidyn Sublett (Shanica), DeShawn McFarland, Taya Marion, Samya Wilson (LaGina), Chance and Serenity Shackleford (Shawnae); and one great-great grandchild, Erionna Petty (Erika).
Winchie worked for the City of Earlington for many years. He will be remembered as a kind man with a big heart, who loved to sing and always had a smile to share with everyone.
