James Warren Poe, 78, of Madisonville, passed away on September 11th, 2021, at Brighton Cornerstone in Madisonville.
He was born on May 7th, 1943, to the late Mary Francis Roberts and Ossie Poe. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a long-haul truck driver for Overnite, then returned to work for ISM Security as a security guard.
He enjoyed BBQs, collecting Louis L’Amour books, watching westerns, and sports. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. Go Bills!
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his aunt Lou Dixon, who raised him, his son, James Warren Poe II, his brothers Darrell and Raymond Hawkins, and his sister Patsy Wharton.
He is survived by his wife Zola Kay Poe; his children Shantell Fairrow, Jaime Faith, Leslie (Matt) Scott, Marcie (Marcus) Armes, Jennifer “Poot” (James) Mullins, Jackie (David) Briscoe, Justin Poe, and Isabella Poe. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mason & Sons on E. Noel Ave on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with service at 1:00 pm. The burial ceremony is to be determined.
