James Robert Flowers

James Robert Flowers, affectionately known as Bob/Bobby, entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2023. He was born October 24, 1954, in Greenwood, Mississippi. Bob was raised by his grandparents, Reverend Robert and Willie Mae Flowers, and accepted Christ at an early age. He later moved to Anderson, Indiana, where he graduated from Madison Heights High School.
After high school, he served in the United States Air Force for five years before returning to Anderson, where he married his beautiful wife Vickie in August 1978 and worked for Duke Energy. 1n 1985 he was relocated to Evansville, continuing employment with Duke Energy until his retirement in 2010 with over 40 years’ service.
Bob was preceded to glory by his parents, I.G. Hester, Ernestine Flowers (Hester) Byrd, and in-laws Maebell Jackson and Thomas Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Vickie Davis-Flowers; children, Cedric Jones of San Antonio, Texas, and Jamese Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri; and father, Curtis Drain of Saginaw, Michigan; six grandchildren, Jada Johnson, Ariah Boyd, Keyaiyra, Chyandra, Caleb Jones and Thaddeus Kirkland; two sisters, Deborah, and Cheryl Hester; brothers, George (Allean), Gean, Micheal Hester, and Randall Byrd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Peace I leave with you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27).
