James H. Fields, 77, of Evansville, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday July 12, 2018. He was born June 5, 1941 to the late Oscar and Marguerite Fields. James worked for the EVSC for many years and was a faithful 60 year + member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. James was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Lincoln Clark Douglass Alumni Association having graduated in 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, giving 8 years of service to his country. After returning home, he joined the Otis Stone Post 354 of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Fields.
James is survived by his loving wife of 20 years: Evelyn Fields; daughter: Michelle Pearson (Lawrence); sons: Christopher Fields, Atlas Allen; brother: Oscar Fields (Angie), two granddaughters: Ken’nyna Ware, Alecis Mecum (Rusty); great grandson: Hendrix Mecum; sister-in-law: Deborah Fields; best friend: George Anderson, and a host of sisters and brothers-in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was a family man who kept close ties to his family.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 19, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Leave condolences at
