James L Banks, 76, of Evansville, IN. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024. James was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church from a young age and was a devoted father, grandfather, and faithful friend.
James served honorably in the United States Army and was awarded a medal in Vietnam for his courageous service.
James was known for singing karaoke songs like “Rock-In Robin" by Bobby Day or his favorite, “Hole in the Wall” by Mel Waiters. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, horse races, and entertaining family and friends.
James Banks was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sevilla (Mimms) Banks; stepmother, Edna Banks Johnson; son, Jim Banks; and sister, Linda Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Banks; two sons, Kerry Banks and Randy (LaToya) Banks; a daughter, Robinette Harris; grandchildren: Kendra Banks, Paris Banks, Tania Banks, Randy Banks Jr, Tavonte Banks, Isaiah Sheridan, Zaria Banks, Zayla Banks, Jiminai Morris, Minaiyah Morris, Nailah Morris; great grandchildren: Mila Pinkney, Makai Pinkney, Shawn Holyfield III, Adonis Jameson Holyfield; his sister, Nina Cheatem; brother, William (Bill) Banks ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
