Irene Elizabeth Burton

Irene Burton, age 63, passed September 8, 2017. She was born to Robert McFarland and Mattie Gant on Nov. 21, 1953 in Henderson, KY. She worked at Henderson County High School for many years where she was loved and cherished.

Irene was a great mother and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing, movies, and spending time with family and friends. If anyone lost a family member, she was always there to give love and support. Irene was a very hard-working woman and will be greatly missed.

Irene was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church where she was a member and secretary of the Fourth Sunday Usher Board and the Women’s Prayer Circle. She was also co-director of the Youth Usher Board. She loved being a part of the church and the church family.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband: David Burton, Sr., and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children:T’Resa Rucker (Myron), Edgreana Hamm (Donald), David Wiley, Jr. (Darsil), David Ray Burton (Sharron), Diana Burton, Vivian Burton, Melissa Burton; sisters: Nicole Foreman (Joe), Carlita Thompson; brothers: Hollis Gant (Debbie), Robert Gant, best friend/cousin: Gloria Young (Tyrone), grandchildren: Ka’Shia Currington (Reggie), Morgan Blanks, True Rucker, Devin Carter, and 13 additional grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; great nieces: Jalayah Gant, Anayshia Goins; a host of aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday September 13, 2017 at Seventh Street Baptist Church with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
