Hiawatha Thomas, age 94, transitioned to everlasting life on Monday, April 9, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville, Kentucky.
Hiawatha was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky to Paul and Vitola Simms. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, Kentucky where she faithfully attended until her health started to diminish. One of her greatest joys was reading the Bible. Hiawatha truly loved the Lord. She also loved talking to people, both young and old.
Hiawatha was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Thomas, Jr.; parents, Paul and Vitola Simms; brothers, William Simms and Paul Simms, Jr.; and sisters, Romania Chastine and Wanitta Simms.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Donald (Beverly) Thomas of Earlington KY; daughters: Charmain Brown of Madisonville KY, Janet Isabell of Madisonville KY, and Frances Hill of Paducah KY; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare.
Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, Kentucky. Visitation with be same day from 11:00am until service time also at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington. Mason and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
