Herman L. Taylor, 77, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017 at Methodist Hospital. He was born January 7, 1940 in Hartford, KY to Rome and Gladys Taylor. He was educated in the Ohio County school system. He professed Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age joining the Church of God in Christ Church in Hartford.
In 1961 he married Peggy Wilhelmena Barrett. To this union one son, Herman Scott Taylor, was born. Upon leaving Ohio County, he moved his family to Henderson for several years. Later, for a better life, he moved his family to the Chicago, IL area where he became employed with Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed a career there in various positions such as welder, foreman of section workers, and payroll supervisor. He retired after more than 32 years of service.
Not forsaking his salvation, he united with Harvey Church of God in Christ (Presently St. Andrews COGIC) where he served as State President of Ushers of the Chicago District for many years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Henderson and united with Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ where he served faithfully until his death.
In addition to his devoted wife of 55 years and his parents, Herman is preceded in death by two sons: Herman Scott Taylor, Peter Angelo Showers; sister: Ivenia Taylor; brothers: Jerry Taylor, Mitchell Taylor, James Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memories daughters: Linda Lewis (Andre), Diane Leachman (William), Crystal Painter; sons: Elder Thomas Parks (Yolanda), Barry Taylor (Jody), Wynman Dickey; godson: Carlise Motton; sisters: Ethel Martin (Rev. J.D.), Lynette Taylor; brothers: Stephen Taylor, David Robinson, Calvin Robinson, Johnnie Robinson, Charles Robinson (Patty); 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
