Herbert Lawrence Collins

Hebert Collins made his transition on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 quietly at home with his family. He was born on February 26, 1931 in Wheatcroft, KY to Spencer and Martha Collins. Herbert was married to his beloved wife Nadine Collins on August 29, 1959. To that union 2 sons were born; Crandall S. Collins and Sean S. Collins.
Herbert was a member of the Little Fort Elks Lodge,#1359, North Chicago, IL. He was employed at Johnson Outboard Marine Corporation and later Honeywell Corporation until his retirement in 1996.
Herbert was baptized at an early age and later attended Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church in Evansville, IN. Upon relocating to Illinois, Herbert became a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie O. Johnson.
Herbert leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 55 years Nadine Collins; 3 sons, Bryan (Pamela) Bailey, Evansville, IN, Crandall (Lanelle) Collins, North Chicago, Sean (Janell) Collins, Beach Park; 8 grandchildren: Rakkia (Lee) Pratt, Meagan Collins, Brooke Collins, Blake Collins, Drake Collins, Tia Bailey, Bryan Bailey, II, Marcus Bailey; 6 great-grandchildren: Xzavier Johnson, Marquis Bradford, Ashley Johnson, McKenzie Pratt, Amaya Nixon-Collins, Lorenz Pratt; 1 sister: Florence (John) Fleming, Evansville, IN; and a host of relatives who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father: Spencer Collins; mother: Martha Collins; 2 sisters: Genova Watkins and Hazel Collins.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 708 Greenwood Avenue, Waukegan, IL, 60085, Pastor, Jimmie O, Johnson will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will begin at the Church at 10:00 A.M. Viewing in Evansville, IN., will be held at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville, IN on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
