Hattie Joann Walker

August 17, 1943 — January 6, 2016

On Wednesday, January 6, 2016, an angel whispered to Joann, “Take My hand - your work here is done - Take My hand.”

Joann was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 17, 1943. She graduated from Lincoln High School and married Ronnie Walker on August 9, 1989.

Joann was employed at Holiday Inn for 29 years as a house-keeper. She retired in 2015. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church under the Rev. Adrian Brooks.

Joann was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristie Smallings and her grandson, Kim R. Johnson, Jr., and brother Leroy “Bo-Beep” Smallings.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Kim R. Johnson, Kurt Smallings, and Kristopher Sutton; nine grandchildren: Latanja Outlaw-Lopez, Savannah Brodgen Johnson, Keyausha Dulin, Shanel Darden, Miyana Johnson, Kendal Johnson, Anthony Sutton, Kristopher Sutton, Jr., Anthony Smallings; seven great-grandchildren: Giovanna Lopez, Andre Lopez, Kaleb Lopez, Kyla Fralick, Donovan Fralick, AniYah Dulin, Tylen Dulin; several special friends: Glenda, Louise, Helen, Lucille; and a host of other friends and family.

Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time at the church. Burial at Oakhill Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.masonbrothersfs.com
