Harrison Daniels Jr. was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 9, 1958 to Harrison Daniels Sr. and Sadie White Daniels. He peacefully, departed this life on June 6, 2018 at the age of 60 years, in Gahanna, Ohio.
He professed his faith in Christ at an early age at Sunrise Baptist Church where his favorite uncle, the late Phil White was the pastor.
Harrison, also known as Sonny, graduated from Thomas Howe High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his college education at Vincennes University with an Associate Degree and the University of Evansville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
Harrison met the love of his life Tonjia Clements and was united in marriage on October 20, 1979. To their union there were 4 children.
Harrison was employed by SIGECO/Vectren for over 25 years before he became disabled in 2002. Through his lifetime he was active in educational, civic, social and religious organizations. Harrison was a wonderful Pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for over 20 years. He was a past president and member of the Baptist Ministers and Deacons Alliance of Evansville, as well as an active member of the NAACP and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. for more than 40 years.
He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Harrison loved to barbecue for his family and friends. He was also very passionate about his two favorite sports teams, the Indianapolis Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Harrison was preceded in death by his daughter: Tamara Daniels, father: Harrison Daniels Sr. and sister: Vera Davenport.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his devoted wife of 38 years Tonjia Daniels, son: Philip Daniels, daughters: Tavonia (Jerome) Strickland, Michelle (Tamario) Sherrill, mother: Sadie Daniels, sister: Rose Gibson, brothers: Charles (Mary) Gibson Sr., Willie(Corria) Gibson of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren: Johnathan Sherrill, Trinity Strickland, Joshua Sherrill, Titus Strickland, special nephew: Dewann Gibson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Services are 11:00 a.m., Sat. June 16, 2018 at Greater St. James Baptist Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service. Wake Service is from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 also at the church. Burial is in Oak Hill Cemetery. R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel is entrusted with services. Leave condolences at
