Gregory "Greek" Grey

Obituary

Gregory Lavoris Grey was born to Eugene and Fannie Jones Grey on November 27, 1962, in Columbus, Georgia.  He departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

He graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1980, where he excelled in football, earning the nickname “The Grey Ghost.” After graduation, he attended Ivy Tech in Evansville, Indiana. Gregory later enlisted in the United States Army, serving our country for four years.  He received an honorable discharge and joined the National Guard, where he discovered his passion for cooking.  During his work career, he was employed at various jobs, but he enjoyed being a cook more than anything.  Gregory was employed at The South Main Diner as a cook.  

He accepted Chris at an early age and joined Eastview Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Erie Pullum. Later, he joined Loving Jesus Missionary Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.   

In addition to his parents, He leaves to cherish his memory companion Kristen Smith; daughters, Sasha Grey, LaNesha Rankin, and Jasmine Grey, all of Louisville, KY; Maycee Grey of Madisonville, and Hannah Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; One grandson, Richard Raglan of Louisville; sister, Deborah Grey; brother, Eugene Grey III; special nephew, Skyler Grey; aunts, Sandra Helm of Madisonville and Annie Pearl Pugh of Birmingham, AL; uncle, Charles Jones of Columbus, GA; Great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
