Gary Sharp, 63, departed this life on February 12, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Evansville, IN. He was born in Madisonville, KY to the late George and Lula Ophelia Sharp.
Early in life, Gary understood the importance of God and accepted Christ into his life at a very early age. He graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School. He worked at the family-owned business, Sharp’s Baker and it was there, that Gary developed a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing meals with love ones. He fulfilled his civic responsibility and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After serving, he worked at Pyro Coal Mines and later at Tyson Foods in Robards, KY.
His hobbies were cooking, fishing, and mowing yards. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother: Charles Martin; sisters: Georgia Campbell and JoAnne Smalls; and grandparents: Albert and Allie McFarland.
He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters: Sophelia Wilkes and Deandra Sharp both of Madisonville; son: Gary (Heather) Sharp, Jr. of Henderson; grandchildren: Zakyra Wilkes, DeVonte Wilkes, Destiny and Bethany Favors, Aryionni Runnells; brothers: James Sharp, Springfield, MA, and Donnie (Brenda) Sharp of Madisonville; sisters: Connie Sharp and Stacia Mayes both of Madisonville; Vanessa (Wayne) Huff of Fayetteville, NC; aunt: Bobbie Jo (Calvin) Reaves of Cleveland, OH; and H. L. Patton of Madisonville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Service time is Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Mason and Sons Funeral Home, Madisonville, KY. Visitation is from noon until service time.
