Supt. Elder Frank W. Patton, Sr., 76, known to his family as “Poppie”. The Lord called one of his divine saints home on March 24, 2016 as he was surrounded by his family and church family. He was the rock of the family he loved. He was a Godly man whose favorite scripture was Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation.”
Supt. Elder Patton loved meeting new people and would ask, “What’s your name and where do you go to church?” He was a very humorous person who filled the room with laughter.
Supt. Elder Patton was a supervisor at Whirlpool Corporation for 25 years. He was founder and pastor of the Open Door Church of God in Christ for 25 years. He also served as an Administrative Assistant for the Historic Indiana First Jurisdiction and was Supt. of the B.J. Watkins District for 9 years.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Elder Frank K. Patton and Margaret Tillerson Patton; Daughter: Pamela Patton; Brother Charles Patton, Sr.; Sister: Theresa Johnson.
He leaves cherished memories for his devoted wife of 56 years, Esther Farmer Patton; 4 Sons: Frank Jr. (Roxane), Michael (Brenda) of Marietta, GA, Tyrone, and Mickey; 3 Daughters: Debbie Patton-Bingham, Patricia Patton, Cindy (Kenny)Beverley of Murfreesboro, TN; Brother: Michael Patton; Sister, Tonetta Reed, a host of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, , cousins, and a special childhood friend, George Flowers, Sr.
