With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mother Francelle Baker, our beloved matriarch, devoted friend, and faithful servant of God. Born and raised in Evansville, Francelle graced this world for 87 wonderful years, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
A proud Lincoln High School alumna, Francelle was an active and dedicated member of the alumni association, hosting countless parties, reunions, and gatherings in her home. She took great pride in her work, dedicating years of service to The Executive Inn, the Civic Center, the EVSC Food & Nutrition Department, and the casino coat room. A woman of deep faith, Francelle was a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the Nurse's Guild, the Mother's Board, and the choir.
Francelle’s greatest joy was cooking for her family and friends, creating cherished memories around the table. She found happiness in traveling, taking bus tours, going on cruises, shopping, and visiting Los Angeles, California.
Francelle was the cherished daughter of Venie and Jewel Hawkins and was preceded in death by her nine siblings. She is reunited in eternal rest with her husband, James Baker Sr.; son, Keith Baker; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Hawkins; and niece, Alicia Smith.
She leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory: daughter Evelyn (Dewey) Rhodes, Tony Hawkins, James (Peggy) Baker, and Demetrick (Teisha) Baker, along with her stepchildren James A., Jocelyn, and Janilla Baker. Her legacy continues through a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including Ms. Carol Langley, Lorraine Wilson, and Doris Hardin.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She was the heart of her family, a light in her community, and an inspiration to all.
As we gather to celebrate her life, we give thanks for the time we were blessed to share with her. Though she is gone from our sight, her love and spirit will live on in each of us.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Rest in eternal peace.
