Floyd Shelton Sr.

Floyd Shelton, Sr., age 88, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 4:38pm at the Heartford House in Owensboro, KY.

Floyd was born February 26, 1927 in Rhodes Chapel, Kentucky to the late Elgin and Rena Bard Shelton. He worked and retired from both Levinson Metals and Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenville, Kentucky.

Floyd was an avid coon hunter. He also had good mechanical aptitude and did a lot of work on his tractor. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching University of Kentucky Basketball and tractor pulls.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Shelton; his son, Floyd Ray Shelton, Jr.; his parent, Elgin and Rena Shelton; three brothers: Elgin, Claude, and Benjamin Shelton; and two sisters, Edna Rogers and Margaret Ann Shelton.

He is survived by one son, Steve Shelton of Greenville, KY; two daughters: Diane Hudson of Huber Heights, OH and Jeanette Lewis of Greenville, KY; one sister, Elsie McCravy of Louisville, KY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Mr. Ronnie Adler who was like a son; a special friend, Mrs. Dell Johnson; special neighbors, Nate Gadson and Chris Saulsberry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 1:00pm at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 402 Hopkinsville Street in Greenville, KY with Rev. Batavi Combs officiating. Visitation will be same day from 11:00am until service time at the church. Burial will be in West End Cemetery in Greenville, KY.
