Ervenia “Mrs. Venie” Kendrick peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 24, 1927, to the late Nelson Terry and Louise Young Terry Thomas. Ervenia attended Alves Street School and graduated from Douglas High School in 1944.
Ervenia accepted Jesus Christ at age nine and joined the Norris Chapel Baptist Church. She served as Sunday School Secretary, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, and Willing Workers Secretary.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Marion Orell Kendrick on October 13, 1945, at Reverend Erie Pullin, Sr.'s home. To this union, three children were born. LaWanda Louise Kendrick, Terrence Orell Kendrick, and Nina Elaine Kendrick.
In addition to her parents, Ervenia was preceded in death by her stepfather, Hesse Thomas, husband of 56 years, Marion O. Kendrick; brothers, John Thomas, Charles Thomas, and Hessekiah Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Terry and Dorothy Lee Terry Moss, and granddaughter, Tanya M. Fellows-Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Nina Elaine Kendrick, Lawanda L. Oliver (Lewis), and son, Terrence O. Kendrick all of Henderson, Kentucky; grandsons, James Fellows, Jr. (Shella), Dwayne H. Kendrick, Andrew J. Kendrick (De’Yonna); granddaughters, Alison D. McKinney (Dwayne), and Kirstie R. Kendrick; great-grandsons, Jalil Fellows, Nikelle Fellows-Lowry, Matthew McMorris, Michael McMorris, Ethan Campbell, Ayden Kendrick, Thomas Kendrick, Asher Kendrick, Daxton Kendrick; great-granddaughters, Kira Fellows, Elise Fellows, Arielle Kendrick, Francis Kendrick, McKynna Kendrick, Avery Kendrick, Aliyah Kendrick, and Willow Kendrick; great- great- grandsons, Rylee Fellows, and Da’Kai Fellows-Lowry; great-great-granddaughters, Kaydence Fellows, Haydynn Fellows-Lowry, sister in law, Ella Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. She also leaves to cherish her long-time friends, Shawn, Shannon, and Hunter Hayden, Regina Ware, Donna Marshall, and Melvin Miller.
