Elvie Allen, 83, of Madisonville, KY formerly of Ft. Wayne, IN died peacefully in her home on Monday August 21,2017. Elvie was born on March 19, 1934 in Earle, Arkansas. She is the daughter of Julia Mae Franklin and Monroe Townsend.
Elvie attended Southside High School and retired from Magnavox after 28 years of employment. She relocated to Madisonville and transferred her Christian fellowship and service from Greater Zion Tabernacle of Ft Wayne, IN to Lively Stone Church of Nortonville, KY. Elvie extended her service as a member of the Usher Board, Culinary Dept., and as a Prayer Warrior. She loved to cook, serve people, and tend to her garden in her spare time. She could often be seen at her favorite spots like the Dollar Tree, Big Lots, and the Mandarin House Chinese Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by 3 children Deborah, Gary, and Rozzell Johnson; and sister: Lillian Hobson; brother: Kenneth Woodson.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, her children: Sherrie Mitchell (Curtis), Kevin Johnson both of Madisonville; daughter-in-law Dannisha Johnson (Rozzell) of Ft. Wayne, IN; 7 granddaughters; 5 grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sisters: Frances Woodson of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Alice Jones of Clinton, MD; step-brothers: Rod Woodson of California, Jamie Woodson of Chicago, Joey Woodson of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.
Services are Saturday August 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lively Stone Church in Nortonville, KY with visitation from 12 Noon until service time. Burial in Westside Oddfellows Cemetery, Madisonville. Arrangements entrusted to Mason & Sons Funeral Home. Leave condolences at
