Dorothy Jean (Biddle) Thomas was the youngest of six Children, born to Lannie and Bessie Ward Biddle on December 15, 1941 in Emerson, Arkansas. On Saturday, November 14, 2020, the Lord called her home to Glory, at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville.
In 1959, Dorothy graduate from McMittress High School with honors. She attended Grambling University and received a BS degree in Education. She taught high school English in the Louisiana Public School System.
On July 19, 1964, Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony, to the love of her life, Wayne E. Thomas, Sr. In 1966, they relocated to Evansville, Indiana, and to this union, four children were born. Dorothy was employed with the Indiana-Division of Family and Children Services Department, and retired in 2003 after 35 years of service..
Dorothy joined Cleaves Memorial CME Church in 1966 under the leadership of Reverend Thomas Hoyt, Sr. She was an active member in good standing and faithfully served her church for 54 years.
Her biggest joy was spending time with her children, grand children and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Thomas, Sr. daughter, Patricia McNary, her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories, her devoted children, Savitri Thomas, Letitia Powers, and Wayne Thomas, Jr. of Evansville, Indiana,
Kimberly Carter of Junction City, Kansas, Grandchildren Lieya McNary, Thomas Carter, Devin Powers, Danyelle Thomas, Sierra McNary, LaShanda Carter, Desmond McNary, Denzel (Brooklyn) Thomas, Rianna Thomas, Denita Carter, Raven Thomas, Kenneth Powers, Celeste Brewster, Corvon Thomas and 10 beautiful Great Grandchildren, one loving sister Geneva (Lester)Walker, 4 sisters-in-law: Diana Winton, Mary (Johnny) Davis, Rev. Velma Thomas, and Beverly Thomas. 7 brothers-in-law: Rev. Leroy (Atha) Thomas, Otha Thomas, Timothy (Lillie) Thomas, Kenneth (Etheline) Thomas, Roland (Stacia) Thomas, Jeffrey (Mary) Thomas, Jerome Thomas; and an enormous host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and a loving church family. Services are 11:00 a.m. November 21, 2020 at Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church with visitation Friday November 20, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at R. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
