Delove Jones, Jr., at the blessed age of 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center. “Junior”, as he was fondly called, was born August 23, 1927, in Lambert Mississippi to Chessie (Cooper) and Delove Jones, Sr. He was educated in the Crowder Mississippi School System. He met and married Inez (Roberson) Jones and they relocated to Evansville in 1949.
Delove was a very hard worker. He was employed by Industrial Contractors for many years and was a dedicated member of the Laborers International Union, Local 561. He was a committed and longtime member of Line Street Church of Christ where he enjoyed using his talents as a song leader, lawn man, carpenter, plumber electrician and “fixer” of everything around the church. According to him, he knew how to repair just about everything if anything.
Delove was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He truly loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Delove, Sr. and Chessie Jones; wife of fifty-four years, Inez; son, Allen; brother, Isom Jones and grandson Keith Miller.
Forever cherishing his memories are two daughters, Quinseola Jones, Shirley (Randy) Bailey; two grandchildren, Carlton Collins and Jessica Bailey; one special granddaughter, Robin Goebel; two uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and a loving Line Street church family.
