For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is a crown laid up for me in heaven.
Delores Jean Dixon was born to the late Magnolia Brooks Dixon and John Henry Dixon on January 7, 1950, in Corydon, KY. Whereas “Mag” died during childbirth; Grandma Florence and Grandpa Buddy Armstead raised Delores from birth.
Delores confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the Rev. T.A. Hite at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She took an active role in the Christian life, serving as an usher and treasurer and singing in the choir when needed.
When Delores moved to Henderson and began working at McDonald’s, she became more independent and was very active. Working was a joy for her, walking was her exercise, and shopping was a treat. She will be missed dearly but will be remembered as a happy soul.
Delores is preceded in death by parents, John Henry Dixon and Magnolia Brooks, and grandparents, Buddy & Florence Armstead.
She leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Brother Donald Calbert; three aunts, Sister Annie Lee Dixon, Sister Rosetta McGuire, and Sister Pauline Dixon; and a host of cousins, friends, and associates.
