Deborah Darlene Carney Torian

January 7, 1958 — January 23, 2021

Deborah “Deb” Darlene Carney-Torian, born January 7, 1958 in Madisonville, KY to the union of Logan Carney Jr. and Thelma Nadine Carney passed away on January 23, 2021. She received her formal education through the Hopkins County Public School System, graduating from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1977, where she was voted most outstanding in her graduating class. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University.
Deborah accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age; she was baptized Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Deborah worked for Ramada Inn, Island Creek Coal Company and York Air Conditioning before enlisting into the United States Army in 1988. Deborah completed her US Army Basic Training at Fort McClellan, AL and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. She was stationed in Grafenwoer Germany; Fort Sill, OK; Karlsruhe Germany; and Fort Campbell, KY. After leaving the military, Deborah worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Nashville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY. At the time of her transition, she worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Military Service Coordinator at the Fort Campbell, KY office.
Deborah was a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and held and maintained her membership with the Iota Pi Sigma Chapter in Clarksville, TN, where she served in the capacity of Chaplain.
Deborah was active with the Great Banquet, the Prison Ministry, volunteering with her sorority and was known to stop and pick people up on the side of the road to give them a ride or buy them food. She served on the Usher Board, Praise On Purpose Adult Dance Team, and volunteered with Girl Scouts of America. Her favorite past times were, shopping, remodeling her house, spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved her church, family friends, coworkers, community and her Extra Toasty Cheez-Its & GRIPPO Potato Chips . She always greeted you with a “Hey”!
She is preceded in death by her father: Logan Carney Jr.; son: Ty-Logan D. Carney, grandchildren: LaMariyah and Leah Roach; paternal grandparents: Logan Carney Sr. and Ada Lee Carney; maternal grandparents: Wilbon Nicholson and Lonnie (Minnie Ella) Scisney
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband: Robert Torian, Clarksville, TN; mother: Thelma Nadine McNeal, Madisonville, KY; grandmother: Rose Virginia Johnson, Madisonville, KY; children: Summer T. Carney, Louisville, KY, Tia D. (Eddie) Roach, Clarksville, TN; adopted son: Dedric (Tara) Maffet, Chattanooga, TN; brothers: Emmitt (Judy) Carney, Indianapolis, IN , Randall (Lucie) Carney, Omaha, NE, Dwight Carney and Sidaris Carney both of Madisonville, KY; step-children: Cecil Monford Jr, Savannah, GA, Troy Monford, Pittsburgh, PA, LaTanya Monford, Canton, OH, Douglas White, Earlington, KY, LaTisha White, Dallas, TX, Robert (Tasha) Torian, Jr. Columbus, GA, Justin Bacon, Hopkinsville, KY and RoVonda Torian, Houston, TX; father-in law: Sammie Torian, Hopkinsville, KY, brothers-in-law; Sammie (Deanna) Torian, Jr., Bobby Torian, sisters-in-law; Brenda (Major)McKee and Wanda Torian; aunts: Deloris Harris, Gary, IN, Clara Jackson, Evansville, IN, Wanda(Lincoln) Thomas, Earlington, KY, Rosetta Nicholson, Madisonville, KY, and Marie Nicholson; uncles; Donnie Nicholson, Melvin “Poo-K” Nicholson, Dallas (Carolyn) Scisney all of Madisonville, KY; lifelong sister/friends; Denise (Herman) Baker, Robert (Wayne) Saulsberry
Deborah had a lot of loyal and dedicated friends and we cannot mention you all, but you know who you are. She loved each and every one of you and we thank you for loving her back.
