David Mitchell Haygan, age 62, was born on July 25, 1962. He was the son of the late George Haygan and Mary Alice Haygan Gilbert. He went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at his son’s home in Tucson, Arizona.
He received his education in the Henderson County School System and graduated from Henderson County High School in 1982. He ran track and sang in the school choir. After High School, he joined the United States Navy, where he made a career for himself in San Diego, CA, and resided there for 38 years.
David was not only a member of Race Creek Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Chester Hatchett but also a cherished church choir member. His commitment to his faith and community was evident in his active participation in the choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Pete Gilbert; brother, Terry Haygan; sister, Marietta Haygan; nephew, Traun Haygan; grandson, Cayden Michael Mitchell Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Pam Haygan.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories of his wife of 31 years Edna Haygan; son, David (Cameo) Haygan of Washington, DC, and Ruben (Johnique) Woods; daughter, Johnny Mae (Mike) Jenkins; grandchildren, Arry, Aalekhi, and Ariel Haygan, Cee Cee Mc Gowan, Tania Varnee, and Jaelynn and Mark Woods; sisters, Georgia Robards of Shelbyville, Ky and Devana Nicole (James) Black of Henderson, KY; brothers, Jerry (Terri) Haygan, James Green, Kenneth Haygan, Tracey (Cindy) Haygan, Kacey Haygan all of Henderson, KY, Jonathan (Annette) Haygan of Columbia, IN, Rev. Stacey (Nedra) Haygan of Owensboro, KY, and Keith Haygan of Bowling Green, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. David was a family member of four generations.
