Danny Ray Layne

Danny Ray Layne passed away on August 11, 2021, at his home in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on September 23, 1963, to the late Otis Lee Layne, Jr., and Mandy Hardy Layne. Danny graduated from F.J. Reitz High in 1982 where he played basketball, football, and track. Danny held a city record in track.
Danny was called to preach on November 2, 2013, and served as a local preacher at Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church where he served as a long-time member. In addition to being a local preacher he was a dedicated member of the Usher Board. Danny loved to read the Bible, fish, and spend time with his family. He was instrumental in starting the feeding program for patrons of the Cleaves Clothes Closet.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Layne.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 22 years: Nancy Jolene Layne; son: Darian Layne; stepdaughter: Jessica Broshears; sisters: Helen Hardy, Renette Boyd, Franceill (Mike) Layne Means, Lisa Layne Meriweather and Martha Dean; brothers: Joseph (Ruth Ann) Layne and Terry (Donna) Layne; special relationship with Paul Crabtree, Bobby Sanders, and Misty Sanders; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Masks are required at all services.
