Charlie Washington, Sr. age 87, passed away on September 16, 2018 at his home in Madisonville, KY.
Charlie was born in Panther Burn, Mississippi on August 15, 1931 to Cleveland Washington and Sara Miller, the third of five children. He was schooled in Panther Burn, MS and moved to St. Louis MO in 1961 where he became a steel worker. After many years of service, he retired as a laborer from Liberty Steel Foundry. He relocated to Madisonville KY in 2015.
Charlie was a very caring and sharing man. He was a funny and loveable man. He loved spending his time fishing and with family and friends. Charlie was known to be great fisherman and while living in St. Louis, he often caught 25-30 pound catfish.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Sara; two brothers: Herbert and Willie; and one sister, LeeAnne.
Left to cherish his memory are four sons: Charles Greenwood of Madisonville KY, Charlie Washington Jr. (Sabrina) of St. Louis MO, Thelester Washington of Arizona, and Everett Washington of St. Louis MO; three step-children: Angelo, Vanessa, and Leon; eleven grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00am at Mason & Sons Funeral Home, 409 E. Noel Avenue, Madisonville KY with same day visitation from 10:00am until service time.
