It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Celestia Ann Snaden. Born on November 19, 1941, in Evansville, Indiana, Celestia graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959. After attending Evansville College (now known as the University of Evansville), she began her career at Citizens National Bank (later Fifth Third Bank), where she worked until her retirement in 2003.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Nadine Benson, her brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Henretta Benson, and her sister, Lilian Franklin.
Celestia was a devoted family member, a cherished friend, and a respected colleague. She loved spending time with her family and gave her complete devotion to her church, Nazarene Baptist Church, where she served the Lord faithfully. Celestia was also a generous contributor to St. Jude and the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Lucian Senior; her two sons, David (LaShawnda) and Lucian Jr.; her sister, Ethel Hawkins; her brother Lee (Beverly) Benson, her three grandsons, Kai (Allison) Snaden, Evan Alderson, and Cameron (Kennedy) Snaden; her nephews, Frank and Randall Benefield, Rodger (Andrea) and Rafer Benson; her niece, Julie Benson Jennings; her ride-or-die friends, Clara Jackson and Arvanna Harrison; and a host of other grand and great-grand nephews and nieces.
Celestia touched the lives of many with her warm smile and compassionate heart. Her dedication to her work and her commitment to helping others were evident in everything she did. She will be remembered for her remarkable ability to bring joy and comfort to those around her.
Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. Celestia's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family during this difficult time. May they find peace and solace in the cherished memories of Celestia Ann Snaden.
We ask that you not send flowers. Please make a donation to one of her favorite charities St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Salvation Army in her honor.
