Cecil Mack Chipps, Jr., 73 of Evansville, IN peacefully passed away on February 18 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, IN.
Cecil Jr. was born January 18, 1947 to the late Cecil M. Chipps, Sr. and Mary B. (Thomas) Chipps in Augusta, GA. At a young age, his family moved to Providence, KY. Cecil attended Providence High School where he played basketball. Cecil graduated in 1965. Shortly after graduating High School, Cecil joined the army. While in the army, Cecil proudly served as a medic in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the service, he became employed at Earle C. Clements Job Corps. He later joined Local 136 and became a pipefitter. Cecil enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching his grandchildren play sports, and washing his Corvette.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lucita Palmer, Kimberlee Chipps-Taylor, Brandi Chipps, and Damien Chipps; his brother, Marvin; ex-wife, Debra Chipps; several grandchildren; and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cypress Grove and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care given by them. Also, a special thank you to June Johnston who Cecil regarded as his other daughter for everything she has done for Cecil.
