This obituary is being posted at the request of Cassaundra Dampier's husband. There is no local funeral service.
In celebration of the life Cassaundra Dampier of Dallas, TX, who came into this world as Cassandra L. Williams on Friday, October 22, 1965 through her parents, Irma and Leonard Williams.
She entered school and attended 3 elementary schools before attending Bosse High School, graduating in 1984. Her working experience began as any teenager’s would, with two fast-food restaurant positions before branching out to a healthcare-related position at Gertha’s Nursing Home. In 1986, Cassaundra was married to Oscar Dampier, Jr. She continued her work in the healthcare industry and then moved to childcare. That same year, Cassaundra was baptized, and she often illustrated her belief through prayer, knowing its power.
In 1989, she moved to Denver, and in a short while, Cassaundra learned office skills that enabled her to pursue a career in accounting. She gained those skills and used them for several years.
About a year or two after the loss of her daughter, Cassaundra returned to work and soon found positions that allowed her to work at home in 2001. The first company was called “My Twinn” which duplicated personal images of dolls by photos. Cassaundra worked there for a few years, and earned 2 M.V.P. awards, due to her extended efforts. In 2006, she took a teller position at Wells Fargo and stayed there for a few years. During that time, she earned a “Teller Appreciation Month Certificate" for her excellent work before making the decision to resign.
During this time, Cassaundra stepped into the area of business, joining a company named AmeriPlan which provided services such as dental care. She earned the title of an IBO (Independent Business Owner) and shortly afterwards reached the position of Regional Sales Director.
Cassaundra had at this point, worked and contracted with a variety of companies she enjoyed working with from home. One company to mention was ACD Direct, where she performed a variety of customer service positions serving quite a few clients. One of them was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Over the years, Cassaundra took that connection one step further by providing donations and continued to donate to their cause of treatment for children stricken with cancer and other illnesses. As was recently discovered, St. Jude had been sending Cassaundra “Certificates of Appreciation” for doing so, and those had been received as recently as 2022 and 2023.
In 2017, she pursued the business of a licensed insurance agent. This required a license and in a short time she obtained that. She was licensed in up to 7 states and did excellent in sales. She continued to work at this along with the at-home positions. In time it all came natural for her.
Away from anything career related, Cassaundra loved art and would always collect art in places where she would travel, and the Denver Black Arts festival whose founder she got to know. She, of course, loved to travel, and found cruises to be the most enjoyable. She was great at planning cruises, most of which took her and her husband to island destinations which were both enjoyable and educational.
Cassaundra had an absolute love of sports, especially basketball and football. She knew the players she liked the most and knew their information such as which college they went to, their stats, teams they played for and their contract terms. She was often reminded at home that she was the same age as the Super Bowl, and if anybody wanted to know or was curious about a player’s numbers, it was Cassaundra they asked.
What was also interesting about Cassaundra was that she loved stuffed animals or teddy bears. Her home was full of them. She also had a marvelous display of elegant hats that she loved collecting over the years that filled her closet. But what stood out the most was people’s show of love towards her. They either wanted to know her or protect her, something that upon observing, was clearly understood.
Her husband refers to her as the absolute; “Love of my life,” and blindly looked forward to what he believed would be so many more years to spend with her. No sign of what was about to come.
On Friday May 10, 2024 Cassaundra died at her home in Dallas due to a sudden illness that came too fast to prevent it from taking her life. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelica L Dampier, and there were many relatives, living and deceased that she sadly lost contact with over the years. In her parting, her husband says “I’m left with lifelong sorrow… but I must speak in a language similar to David and say; “She cannot come back to me, so I must prepare to someday go to her. I look forward to our reunion.”
