Carrie was born in Gary, IN, to the late Hilda and Corry Steppe. She moved to Madisonville at an early age to live with her late grandparents, Georgia and Lee Morris.
Carrie was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School. After High School, she went to work for the State of Kentucky for several years, then she went to work for both General Electric and Tyson Foods.
She loved her UK team, where to some, she was known as “Coach C.” She loved collecting Paparazzi Jewelry and playing sudoku puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Carrie will be deeply missed by all of us.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her two older brothers: C.W. and Reggie Steppe; and her sister: Jackie Jones.
Carrie leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters: Robin and Christie Steppe, and Stephanie (Deljuan) Hendrix all of Madisonville, KY; sister: Stephanie Johnson; brothers: Marcus and Michael Steppe all of Madisonville; grandchildren: Tiona (Kristen) Casey, Tevin Arnett, Tra’Quille Hopson, Terrika Springfield, Ty’Arrah Mosley, Tramaine Hughes, Jordon Ipock, eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephew that she considered her own.
I never knew how much love my heart could hold until someone called me “Nana”
