Carolyn Faye Hale, born in Hickman, Kentucky on May 2,1939 passed away on December 12, 2023. She was raised by Deacon John L. Jones and Mother Velma Jones. On June 4, 1960 she married the love of her life, Elder Matthew Hale. Together they had two beautiful daughters.
Carolyn served dutifully as the First Lady of Watkins Temple COGIC, Evansville, Indiana alongside her husband, Elder Hale until she was called home to heaven. Carolyn worked many years as a Women, Infant and Children Program Social Worker at the Vanderburgh County Health Department and later retired. She was known by leadership, colleagues, and those whom she served as a diligent, resourceful worker as well as a bright ray of hope each day. Carolyn will be fondly remembered as a loving mother to her children. She was always a positive and loving supporter of her family. She instilled the importance of God, family, education and hard work. She had a special relationship with God and called on him often, mostly to intervene on behalf of one of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She lived her life with very few regrets. Carolyn was an excellent cook who perfected her iconic Mississippi Mud Cake. Some of her passions included spending quality time with her family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved caring for her home and anyone that came to know her. She found joy in making everyone smile. Her family had several names for her, which included: Momma, Grandness, Grandma, and Momma Hale. She loved to make everyone smile and feel at ease, especially when they needed to talk. She was a guiding light to us all. All who knew her will miss Carolyn dearly.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents: Deacon John L Jones and Mother Velma Jones; and her brothers: Walter L. Hawkins, Charles E. Hawkins and Ricardo E. Jones, and Albert W. Jones; and sister-in-law: Nina Jones.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Elder Matthew Hale; loving daughters: Sharee Hale and ADonna Hale-Hardy; loving grandsons: Donald B. Hardy II and Matthew Nicholas Sims (Kierra); loving great grandsons: Landon and ADarius Hardy; sisters-in law: Ethel Hawkins and Arlene Jones; and a host of other family members and friends.
