Carman Yvette Gillum-Craig departed this beautiful earth surrounded by family and friends on August 26, Carman was born to Wendy Bryant-Miller on September 21, 1964. At the tender age of 10 days old, Carman was adopted by Dessie and James Gillum. Carman graduated from Reitz High School in 1982 where she played basketball and was in the Color Guard. She loved to cook, sew, and travel. She also loved to sing. 

In 1988, Carman joined the US Navy and became a Corpsman assisting healthcare professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families. Carman gave birth to her oldest daughter, Taylor, in 1991 and her baby girl, Macayla in 1997. Upon her return to Evansville in 1998, Carman worked several years at Deaconess Hospital until her health prevented her from continuing. 

Carman accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Revs. Walter R. Brown Sr. and Jr. In 2021, Carman joined Greater Hope Christian Church under Rev. Dr. J. C. Campbell. She was active in the choir until her health declined.

Carman was preceded in death by her mother, Wendy-Bryant-Miller, and her parents Dessie and James Gillum; aunts, Minnie E. Scott, Jo Evelyn Scott-Clark; uncles, Victor B. Scott, Tommy Scott, and Lynn Scott.

Carman leaves behind her husband of 16 years, whom she adored, Erwin R. Craig, Sr; beautiful daughters, Taylor Johnson, Macayla Henderson, and Tiffany Craig; sons, Andon Moore, Erwin Craig, Jr. all of whom she loved unconditionally; 5 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Ariana, JaMarcus, Malakai, and JaiZion; brother, Delbert Bryant; and siblings of the Denton Family. In addition, Carman leaves her niece Latoya, Chelsea; and nephews, Denzel, Messiah, Adonis, and Dominick; cousins, Doretha (Robert) Scott-Moore, Ernie Scott, Sheila (Dewey) Scott-Norton, Carolyn M. (Marvin) Foster, Glynn W. Scott, Robert C. (Margaret) Scott, Michael K. Scott, Nichole Forks, and Alisha Howard. She also leaves to cherish many memories, her special sister friends, Sherri Newman, Autumn Pauley, Alice McNary-Burris, Gracie Hodges-Kunze, Kathy Woodard, and Mary Woodard; special friend, Michael Coleman; and special nieces, Tiffany and Stephanie Pauley.
