Booker Jerry Borroum “Jerry” was born on April 9, 1944, to Booker T Jr. & Jacqueline Borroum in Evansville, IN. Jerry was raised by his paternal grandfather, Elder Booker T Borroum Sr and baptized in in the Church of God in Christ.
Under his grandfather’s guidance and teaching, Jerry dove headfirst into the gospels of Jesus Christ and was often called the “little preacher.”
Jerry grew up on the Westside of Evansville in a neighborhood fondly called “Beverly Heights.” He attended the Evansville Public School system and graduated from Central High School. Although he loved Evansville, Jerry relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, which became his home. Jerry was a soldier in the United States Army with a robust tour of duty in Germany. After returning to the United States, he worked for Chrysler Automotive, rounding out his career as an electrician with Boeing Aerospace, where he retired after many years. Jerry’s love of learning never stopped as he earned an associate’s degree in applied science and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri.
Jerry had many titles: Daddy, JB, and Pops, to name a few! Why so many titles? I'm glad you asked! Jerry made EVERYONE feel like their title for him was their very own! His home was filled with love, laughter, food, music, and a little bit of mental therapy because, rest assured, if you sat on JB’s couch, you were in for a round-robin of advice and a history lesson on various topics! And don’t mention that you were making a run to the grocery store because he would provide you with a list of snacks that included hostess cakes, wintergreen mints, and his absolute favorite snack, "MUNCHEOS” potato chips. He was a sports enthusiast, with the Cowboys being his favorite football team.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Jerry was preceded in death by three sisters, Pat, Mary & Sylvia, and one brother, Mark. Jerry leaves cherished memories to two brothers, Emmanual Borroum (Patricia) and Jonathan Borroum, and six children, Emily Parker (Timothy), Anthony Borroum (Vatayshi), LaShonda Livingston (Anthony), Loretta Parker, Tabitha Pegues and Nicole Berry (Derris). Jerry also leaves his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, his bonus daughter Parus Madison, and a host of friends from Saint Louis and Evansville, and lest I forget his beloved bird he named “Happiness.”
We love you dearly, “Daddy” so save a spot for us, and we’ll be sure to bring you some “Muncheos..`”
