Bonita Ann Norman, known as ‘Bonnie,’ was born to the late James Bernard Norman and Ruth Ann Norman on February 11, 1943. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Hamilton Pointe Health Center in Newburgh, Indiana.
She was educated in the Vanderburgh County Public Schools. She attended Chestnut Walnut School, graduated from Lincoln High School, and attended Evansville College. After school, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and worked for Indian Bell for many years. Upon her return to Evansville, she was employed at Faultless Caster and worked there until her retirement.
Bonita was an active member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana, from an early age until her health kept her from attending church. She was baptized at an early age by Rev. M.D. Banks. Through the years, she served her Church faithfully by serving on the Usher Board, Mother’s Board, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of Circle of Faith.
While living in the Center, the staff noted that she was always around the building talking and encouraging the residents she would visit daily. She loved playing BINGO and was Hamilton Pointe’s “Bingo Captain.” Bonita and two other residents were known as the Three Musketeers. The staff at the Center said Bonita was a very cheerful and loving person and loved by all, from housekeeping to the kitchen department. They all stated that Bonita would truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Damita Wash. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Manique Norman; grandsons, Jamin (Lyndsay) Bradley of Phoenix, AZ; James Wash of Lexington, KY; and granddaughter, Angela (Michael) Frazier of Phoenix, AZ; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Joia, and Zuri; Sister, Yvonne Williams of Durham NC; brothers, Richard Brown of Springfield, IL; brother Rev. Glen (Kathey) Norman of Evansville, IN; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
