Bobbie Jean Butler-Mitchell was born in Providence, Kentucky on June 22, 1934 (with a twin sister, Billie Jean) to Robert and Mary Butler. She was called home on December 26, 2016 at the age of 82 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bobbie gave her life to God at an early age in Providence, Kentucky then moved to Evansville, Indiana. In Evansville, she joined Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board for 50 years. For eight of those years, she was District President.
Bobbie was employed at Kline’s Hair Salon for 35 years until she retired. She also was a caregiver for a couple of her friends.
Bobbie had a kind and sweet personality. Her loving heart and kindness will truly be missed.
Preceding Bobbie in death are her husband of 35 years, Thomas Mitchell; her twin sister, Billie Jean Butler-Flowers; her mother and father, Robert Butler and Mary Weir-Butler; and her two brothers, Charles Butler and David Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: LyNell (Hollis) Veal of Chicago IL and Natalie (Lewis) Pace of Evansville IN who was her caregiver; her step-daughter, Dorothy (Rick) Mitchell-Hope of Evansville IN; her sons: Merle (Linda) Henderson of California and Steve Henderson of Los Angeles CA; her brothers: Sheldon (Catherine) Butler of Altadena CA and Royce (JoAnn) Butler of Lancaster CA; her sisters: Melva (Bobby) Washington of Los Angeles CA, Virginia Johnson of Chicago IL, Anne (Michael) Simms of Arizona, and Joy Butler of Orlando FL; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her caregiver, Marci Wilson Williams; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services are Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:00am at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville. Visitation 9:00am until service time. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be left at
