Bettye Russell

September 17, 1948 — March 16, 2023

Bettye Jean Russell, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital on March 16, 2023. She was born to Walter and Dorothy Franklin Russell in Earlington, Kentucky. Bettye graduated from J.W. Million School in Earlington. As a young woman, she accepted a position as a nanny for a doctor who transferred to Texas. Bettye moved with the family and after the child became older, stayed in Texas for many years working in the hospital.

Bettye loved to dance when she was younger but in her later years, she enjoyed reading in her leisure. She was a faithful member of Disciples of Christ, regularly attending services until her sickness.

She was preceded in death by her father: Walter Russell; mother: Dorothy Russell; brothers; James (Joe) Russell, Walter (Happy Jack) Russell, Bobby Russell (To-To), and Calvin Russell; and sister: Hilda Matchem.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters: Lillie (James) Washington, Gwendolyn Johnson, Joyce Russell of Madisonville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
