Betty Joyce Smith

Betty Joyce Smith, 78, of Henderson, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born November 13, 1943, to the late Harry T. Hill, Sr. and Ernestine (Wilson) Hill in Paducah, Kentucky.
Betty graduated from Lincoln High School (Paducah) in 1961. She continued her education and also graduated from West Kentucky Vocational School. She was employed at Western Baptist Hospital (Paducah) for 30 years before she retired and moved to Henderson, KY.
Betty married John Smith, Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Judith Hobbs, Anita Hill and Mamie Lee Evan; two brothers: Donald Hill and Harry T. Hill, Jr.
Betty was a loving Christian mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, family member and friend. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Line Street Church of Christ.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory one loving and devoted son: Joe Kevin (Dawn) Smith; two grandsons: Joseph (Tynesha) Smith and Jordan Smith; one granddaughter: Jayla Smith; one great-grandson: Jonah Smith; three sisters: Nancy Hill, Deborah Hill and Loudella (Kenneth L.) Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, a wide circle of friends, and a loving Line Street Church family.
A special thank you to Caretenders, Home Instead, and the doctors and nurses in Intensive Care Unit at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Visitation will be Saturday, August 27 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. at Line Street Church of Christ, 756 Line Street, with Minister Geno L. Merriweather officiating.
