Beatrice Pettus, age 75, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville IN. She was born to Gertrude and William Thomas Pettus, Sr. in Earlington, KY and received her high school diploma from the Earlington school system.
Beatrice worked in Hopkins County and at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington and was a faithful member of the Senior Choir, the Usher Board, and the Cleo Taylor Missionary Circle.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents: William Thomas Pettus, Sr. and Gertrude Jagoe Pettus; two sisters: Laverne Simms and Anniebelle Pettus; and two brothers: William Thomas Pettus, II and Leroy Pettus.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five children: James (Teresa) Matchem, Tina (Frank, Jr.) Washington, Kenneth Pettus, Tamatha (John) Russell, and Demetrice (JaMeia) Pettus; one sister, Rosie Mae Russell; two brothers: Miller Oneal (Allene) Stone of Earlington, KY and Rev. Dr. James A. (Mary) Pettus of Danville VA; two aunts: Irene Day and Jessie Jagoe; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, KY with visitation from 11:00am until service time, also at the church.
