Beatrice H. Bagwell was born on August 20, 1920 in Henderson KY to the late Elisha and Maryetta (Davis) Hatchett. She passed away into the loving arms of God at 3:16 pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital.
She accepted Christ as her savior under the leadership of Rev. L.G. Easley of the Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church. Beatrice moved to Evansville IN and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and an usher for many years.
Beatrice graduated from Douglas High School in Henderson KY. She was the first African American to work at the Frosty Pail Restaurant in Henderson KY. After leaving Henderson, she began working for Sears and Roebuck. She retired after many years of service.
Throughout her life, Beatrice enjoyed baking and gardening.
In addition to her parents and husband, Beatrice was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by a loving and devoted great niece, Evette Floyd (James) who was also her caregiver; six nieces: Emma Dixon, Etta Tyler, Teresa Williams, Darby Robinson, Margaret Porter, and Polly Tyler; one sister-in-law, Clara Brown; many great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
