Barbara “Boone” Jean Haskins Williams 84 went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was born July 21, 1939, in Evansville, IN to the late Thomas and Odie Mae (Thomas) Haskins.
Barbara was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Nazarene Baptist Church until she moved her membership to St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board and Hospitality Committee. Barbara retired from the City of Evansville Parks and Recreation Department after 37 years of employment. During her employment, Barbara met and helped a lot of youth and young adults who would come through the doors of the C.K. Newsome Center. She had a kind and giving spirit and helped anyone in need. Barbara spent her entire life being of service to others and enjoyed helping people. She loved cooking and spending time with family and friends during the holidays and attending church.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Tommy Mae Shanks; granddaughter: Jalisha Haskins and brother; Jerry Haskins.
Left to cherish fond memories are her sons: Thomas G. Haskins and Reginald Haskins; daughter: Cheryl Haskins all of Evansville; siblings: Dorothy Miles and Mark Haskins both of Evansville, Sharon Jewell of Milwaukee, WI, Marilyn Haskins of Haymarket, VA, Linda Carter (Nivens) of Atlanta, GA, Rev. Michael Haskins (Betty) of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren: Catherine Moore, Reggie Moore, Shayla Graves, Rosemary Montgomery, Amber Stewart, and Jordan Haskins; sister in law: Verna Haskins; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends. Special loved ones Joe and Angie Blair and their children, Emma Haskins, Marvin Cooper, and Phyllis Miller.
