Barbara Jo Gilbert

Barbara Jo Gilbert, 70, passed away, Sunday, April 18, 2021. She was born to Juanita Madison Burris of Henderson, KY, and attended Henderson City High School. She later received many certifications from Henderson Community College related to her employment. Barbara was a 26-year employee of Community Methodist Hospital where she was Supervisor of Dietary.

She was a faithful member of Seventh Street Baptist Church where she was active in the Alice Brooks Missionary Circle, a member of the Usher Board, and other organizations.

She loved baking desserts especially making Peanut Butter Balls with her grandson, Courtney. She enjoyed using make-up and sold Mary Kay for many years. Barbara passed on her strong sense of style and fashions to her daughters. In her spare time, she shopped which is evidenced by the many clothes still in her closet with the tags on them. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with all of her grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits.

She was preceded in death by her mother and brother: Terrance Burris.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Troy (Ingrid) Smith, Amy Smith, and Phyllis Smith; grandchildren: Phillip, Troy, Jr. Courtney, and Jonathan; siblings:
Wallace (Magnolia) Davis, Deborah Berry, Nancy Terry, William Lee Burris, Teresa Hatchett, Anita Burris, Terry (Rev. Adrian) Brooks, and Darlene Burris.
