Angela Vonceil Marshall Smith

October 3, 1944 — November 13, 2020

Angela Vonceil Marshall Smith was born to Haywood Tunley, Sr and Eleanor Louise Marshall on October 3, 1944. She departed this earthly life on November 13, 2020 at 6:15 a.m. at her home in the presence of her husband and daughter Deanna.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the pastorship of the late Dr. W.R. Brown, Sr. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended ISUE, now known as the University of Southern Indiana. She worked as a Loan Originator, until she retired.
Angela married the love of her life Arthur L. Smith, Sr, in May 1960. From this union 11 children were conceived.
Angela was very active in serving the Lord in her church and community. Her activities included Circle Love, Nurses Guild, Bus Ministry, Choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Tutoring, Southern District, & General State Baptist Convention. She was the social chairperson for Circle Love for many years and served on several awards committees for Women’s Day. She helped with Girl Scouts and Brownies troop functions. She formed the “Dinner Crew,” in which women from different churches in the community meet at various restaurants on a monthly basis to eat, fellowship, and celebrate birthdays.
She was a member of “Our Gang” which started out as a group of young people whose parents kept them engaged in various activities at church, such as Bible Study and BTU. The relationships that formed from this group lasted a life time. They never lost touch with one another. This group was very special to her, and she considered its members her very own brothers and sisters. The members who are still among us are Rev. W.R. Brown, Jr., Lee Moss, James Moss, Albert (Bibbie) Madison, Patricia Shingleton, Annetta Sanders, and others who we might not be aware of.
Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Her favorite song was “The Lord Will Make A Way”. Her favorite color was navy blue. She was instrumental in keeping her family in the Word of God, by having family bible studies. Angela also enjoyed playing cards, board games, and doing crossword puzzles with her family and friends
