Amos Glasper

October 4, 1949 — September 14, 2016

Amos Glasper, Jr. was born October 4, 1949 to the union of Mary Johnson and the late Amos Glaspie, Sr. in Calhoun County, Mississippi. He was the oldest of nine children. Amos was baptized at an early age. He attended Cooley Elementary School and from there he attended Cooley High School. In 1964, he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He married Kathy Glasper January of 1978.

Amos was a person that loved his family very much and at the end of every conversation, he would say “I love you.” He was a person who never judged you regardless of the situation. He loved to have fun – cooking, grilling, and playing cards with his family and friends.

Amos was preceded in death by his father, Amos Glaspie, Sr.; his brother, Calvin Glasper; and his grandparents, Rev. T.G. Woodward and Melissa Woodward.

Amos leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy Glasper; his mother, Mary Johnson; children: Jody (Fred) Baker, Vanessa (Kevin) Hurley Anderson, Tony (Kim) Landor, Derrick Glasper, Tracey Nellum, Tara (Larry) Esper; three brothers: George Glasper, Terry (Martha) Glaspie, Lyndell (Angela) Glaspie; five sisters: Jessie Glasper, Nellie (Ben) Freelon, Clementine (William) Smith, Shelia (Steve) Hill, and Jacqueline (Wesley) Westmoreland; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
