Ms. Amanda Louise Brown, 89, of Earlington KY was born to the late Mabel and Clarence Torain. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 9:56pm at Baptist Health Madisonville.
Amanda, a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, served on the church Culinary Arts Committee and was a member of the Senior Choir. She was employed and retired from General Electric Corporation in Madisonville KY.
She married Tom Brown in 1947 and moved to Indianapolis IN. Amanda returned home to Earlington in 1957 to be caregiver for her parents. She had no children but was a second mom to her sister’s children and their children. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Amanda loved family and loved to cook and bake. She was well known for her “Butter and Caramel” cakes.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, six nieces: Phyllis Ann Torain of Indianapolis IN, Carolyn Ann Coleman and Sharon Torain of Louisville KY, Rozina Torain Boyd of Flint MI, VaNita Torain of Mt. Myers FL, and Debra Martin of Earlington KY; four nephews: Wendell (Brenda) Martin and James Torain of Madisonville KY, Larry (Joyce) Martin of Belleville IL, and Kenneth Martin of Earlington KY; one sister-in-law, Wendall Torain of Madisonville KY; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington Ky with same day visitation from 11:00am until service time. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington KY. Arrangements entrusted to Mason & Sons Funeral Home, 409 E. Noel Avenue, Madisonville KY.
