Adolphus “Doc” Chester Smith was born to the late Thomas Livingston Chester and Mary Katherine Smith on April 12, 1949, in Madisonville, KY. He departed this life Sunday, May 8, 2022, at 1:45pm.
He was a graduate of Madisonville High School and later went on to earn an electrical diploma and was certified in Auto Body work.
Adolphus accepted Christ and united with Oak Grove Baptist Church in Madisonville, KY where he sang in the choir and served on the Trustee Board.
He was employed at Birmingham Bolt for 17 years. He retired from Hopkins County after 20 years of service. He also worked at a nursing facility for seniors until he decided to take it easy at home.
He belonged to the Kentucky Gentlemen Club where he rode his motorcycles with friends. He loved to travel and see the sites. He would go to every high school football and basketball game. If not attending the game he would watch college and pro games on TV. He loved his sports. In addition to his parents, Doc is preceded in death by his sister, Sheshalia Parks.
Doc leaves fond memories to his children: Beverly Lewis (Lynwood Sr.) of Athens, AL, Venolia Johnson of Madisonville, KY, Tracey Brewer (David) of Hopkinsville, KY, Marc Smith (Kiana) of Madisonville, KY, and Tamela Thomas (Tracy) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren: Lynwood Jr., Erica Rushing (Jermonte), Eriq Harris, DeMarco Washington, Dashia Washington, Monica Cavanaugh, Kia Brewer-Seasoltz , Stephan Thomas, Stephanie Smith, LaRiah Washington. great-grandchildren: Omar Rushing, Zhea Rushing, Yasmine Rushing, Lynn Rushing, Allison Rushing, Kha’Layah Coates, Tylei Thomas, Trestan Thomas, Zephani Hodges, and Blessyn Thomas and a host of family and friends; and his faithful and loyal companion: Fannie Morris.
